حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، سَمِعَ خَيْثَمَةَ، سَمِعَ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ:

ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّارَ فَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ النَّارَ فَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ النَّارَ فَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ mentioned the Fire, sought refuge from it and turned his face away. Then he mentioned the Fire, sought refuge from it and turned his face away. Then he mentioned the Fire, sought refuge from it and turned his face away. Then he said: Guard yourselves against the Fire, even with half a date. If you cannot find that, then with a good word.
