“Dreams are of three types: Some are terrifying things from Satan, aimed at causing grief to the son of Adam; some are things that a person is concerned with when he is awake, so he sees them in his dreams; and some are a part of the forty-six parts of prophecy.” He said: “I said to him: ‘Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ He said: ‘Yes, I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3907)

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to be pleased with dreams. Sometimes a man would see a dream and he would ask about him if he did not know him. If he was commended as good, he was more pleased with his dream. A woman came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I saw as if I was taken out of Madinah and entered into Paradise. I heard a sound that Paradise made for it. I looked and saw so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so," and she named twelve men whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sent on an expedition before that. They were brought wearing worn-out garments, their jugular veins flowing. It was said, "Take them to the river of al-Baydhakh." He said, "They were immersed in it." He said, "They came out with faces like the moon on the night of the full moon. A platter of gold was brought with a fresh date on it. They ate of its dates as much as they wished. They did not turn it from any side except that they ate of the fruit whatever they desired, and I ate with them." Then the bringer of good news from that expedition came and said, "Our affair was such-and-such, and so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so were struck," until he counted twelve men. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for the woman and said, "Relate your dream." She related it and said, "So-and-so and so-and-so were brought," as the man said.

  16. Sahih Ibn Hibban 6055Sahih

✧ "Indeed, the Prophet (PBUH) said, 'Dreams are one part of seventy parts of Prophethood, and dreams are tied to the leg of a bird unless reported by the dreamer, and if reported it becomes true. So, do not report them except to a scholar, advisor, or loved one.'"

  17. Sahih Ibn Hibban 6056Sahih

There came to him (the Holy Prophet) a desert Arab and said: I saw in a dream that I had been beheaded and I had been following it (the severed head). 18. Sahih Ibn Hibban 6057Sahih

✧ The one who sees with his eyes in sleep what he did not see will be charged on the Day of Resurrection to tie a knot between two grains of barley; and the one who listens to the talk of a people while they dislike it will have molten lead poured into his ear on the Day of Resurrection.
