حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ جِئْتُ بِسَيْفٍ مَعِي، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ هَذَا السَّيْفَ قَدْ شَفَى صَدْرِي فَهَبْهُ لِي، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ هَذَا السَّيْفَ لَيْسَ هُوَ لَكَ وَلَا لِي، فَخَرَجْتُ، وَأَنَا أَقُولُ: عَسَى أَنْ يُعْطِيَهُ مَنْ لَيْسَ بَلَاؤُهُ مِثْلَ بَلَائِي، فَجَاءَنِي رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: " أَجِبْ، فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ نَزَلَ فِيَّ شَيْءٌ بِكَلَامِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " إِنَّكَ سَأَلْتَنِيهِ وَلَيْسَ هُوَ لِي، وَإِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ جَعَلَهُ لِي فَهُوَ لَكَ

Translation

✧ On the day of Badr, I brought a sword and said: O Messenger of God, this sword has healed my breast, so give it to me. He said: This sword is neither yours nor mine. I went out saying: Perhaps he will give it to someone whose trial is not like my trial. Then the messenger of the Messenger of God ﷺ came to me and said: Respond. I thought something had come down concerning me because of my words. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: You asked me for it while it was not mine, and God has made it mine, so it is yours.
