✧ The command to refrain from fighting during trial

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِذَا أَتَاهُ الرَّجُلُ يَقْتُلُهُ، يَعْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ، أَنْ يَكُونَ هَكَذَا، فَوَضَعَ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى، فَيَكُونُ كَخَيْرِ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ، فَإِذَا هُوَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَإِذَا بِقَاتِلِهِ فِي النَّارِ

✧ "Would any of you be unable, when a man comes to kill him—meaning from the people of the qiblah—to be like this?" He placed one of his hands on the other, "and thus be like the better of the two sons of Adam. Then he will be in Paradise, and his killer will be in the Fire."
