✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat one day while we were with him and said: “Allah, Exalted, is not overwhelmed by any sin that He forgives. A man before you killed ninety-eight people. He came to a monk and said to him: ‘I have killed ninety-eight people; do you find any repentance for me?’ He said: ‘No,’ so he killed him. Then he came to another monk and told him that he had killed ninety-nine people; do you find any repentance for me? He said: ‘No,’ so he killed him. Then he came to another and told him that he had killed a hundred people; do you find any repentance for me? He said: ‘You have transgressed greatly, and I do not know. But here are two villages: one is called Naḍrah; its people do the deeds of the people of Paradise, and no one else remains among them. The other is called Kafrah; its people do the deeds of the people of the Fire, and no one else remains among them. Go to the people of Naḍrah, and if you do their deeds and repent, do not doubt your repentance.’ So he set out toward it, until when he was between the two villages, his appointed time overtook him. The angels, peace be upon them, asked their Lord about him. He, Majestic and Exalted, said: ‘Look at which of the two villages he was closer to, and record him among its people.’ They found him closer to Naḍrah by a fingertip, so they recorded him among its people.”
