✧ “There was among the Children of Israel a man who killed ninety-nine people. Then he went out asking, and he came to a monk and asked him, ‘Is there any repentance for me?’ He said, ‘No,’ so he killed him. He kept asking, and a man said to him, ‘Go to such-and-such a village.’ Death overtook him and he died. The angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed over him. Allah revealed to this one, ‘Draw near,’ and to that one, ‘Move away.’ He was found to be closer to this one by a span, and he was forgiven.”
