✧ Nawfal b. al-Harith sent his two sons to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and said to them: Go to your uncle, perhaps he will appoint you over the sadaqat, so that you may obtain something and get married. They met Ali ؓ and he said: Where are you heading? They told him of their need. He said to them: Go back. So they went back. When evening came, their father ordered them to go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they were shown to the door, they asked permission, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Aisha ؓ: Let down your curtain; admit to me the two sons of my uncle. They told the Prophet of Allah ﷺ of their need, and the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said to them: Nothing of the sadaqat is lawful for you, O Ahl al-Bayt. It is the washing of hands. You have a fifth (khums), and in the fifth is what suffices you, or enriches you.
