✧ I was an archer, shooting against 'Uqbah b. 'Amir. One day he passed by me and said: 'O Khalid, come out with us to shoot.' I was slow to respond, so he said: 'O Khalid, come, let me tell you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me, and I will say to you as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah admits three persons into Paradise by a single arrow: its maker, who sought good in making it; its shooter; and the one who hands it to the shooter. Shoot and ride, but shooting is dearer to me than riding. There is no legitimate amusement except three: a man training his horse, playing with his wife, and shooting with his bow among his people. And whoever learns archery then abandons it, it is a blessing he has disbelieved."'
