حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزَّاهِدُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَحْرِ بْنِ بَرِّيٍّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مِنْ لَهُوِ الدُّنْيَا بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا ثَلَاثَةٌ انْتِضَالُكَ بِقَوْسِكَ وَتَأْدِيبُكَ فَرَسَكَ وَمُلَاعَبَتُكَ أَهْلَكَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْحَقِّ» وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «انْتَضِلُوا وَارْكَبُوا وَإِنْ تَنْتَضِلُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُدخِلُ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثَلَاثَةً الْجَنَّةَ صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِيهِ الْخَيْرَ وَالْمُتَنَبِّلُ وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ» على شرط مسلم

✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Every amusement of the worldly life is false except three: your shooting with your bow, your training your horse, and your playing with your family, for they are from the truth." And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Shoot and ride, but shooting is dearer to me. Indeed Allah admits three persons into Paradise by a single arrow: its maker, who seeks good in it; the one who hands it; and the archer who shoots it." [Reported] according to the condition of Muslim.

machine translationIbn Abī Ḥātim said in Kitāb al-ʿIlal: I asked my father and Abū Zurʿah about a hadith that Suwayd b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated from Ibn ʿAjlān, from Saʿīd al-Maqburī, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, that he said... and he mentioned it. They both said: This is a mistake, in which Suwayd erred. Rather, it is from Ibn ʿAjlān, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ḥusayn, who said: It reached me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said... and he mentioned it. This is how al-Layth, Ḥātim b. Ismāʿīl and a group narrated it, and this is the correct form, as a mursal report. My father said: Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ibn Abī Ḥusayn, from a man, from Abū al-Shaʿthāʾ, from the Prophet ﷺ, and this too is mursal.
