حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ فَاسْتَشَارَ النَّاسَ، فَاسْتَشَارَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ، فَسَكَتَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَشَارَ، فَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ ؓ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ: إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُكُمْ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَا نَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ: فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلا إِنَّا هَا هُنَا قَاعِدُونَ، وَلَكِنْ وَاللهِ لَوْ ضَرَبْتَ أَكْبَادَهَا بَرْكَ الْغِمَادِ لَكُنَّا مَعَكَ
Translation

✧ On the day he set out to Badr, the Prophet ﷺ consulted the people. He consulted the Muslims. Abu Bakr ؓ gave him his opinion, and he remained silent. Then he consulted again, and Umar ؓ gave him his opinion. A man from the Ansar said: He means you. They said: O Messenger of Allah, we do not say as the Children of Israel said: Go, you and your Lord, and fight; we are sitting here. Rather, by Allah, if you strike their livers at Bark al-Ghimad, we will be with you.
