✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will surely give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love." He called Ali, who had sore eyes, spat into his eyes, and gave him the banner. Those who set out with him went with him, and he met the people of Khaybar. There was Marhab, reciting war poetry and saying: "Khaybar knows that I am Marhab, fully armed, a tested hero. Sometimes I thrust, and sometimes I strike, when lions advance blazing." He and Ali exchanged two blows, and Ali struck him on the crown of his head, and the sword bit into it until it reached the white of his skull. The people of the army heard the sound of his blow, and Allah granted victory to him and to them.
