Chain of narrators
- Abū Mūsá al-Anṣārī
- ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs

- Burayd b. Abū Maryam
- Abū al-Ḥawrāʾ al-Saʿdī

I said to al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī: What did you memorize from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: I memorized from him: "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt. The truth brings tranquility while falsehood sows doubt."
Notes
✧ And in the hadith there is a story. He said: Abū al-Ḥawrāʾ al-Saʿdī—his name is Rabīʿah ibn Shaybān—said: This hadith is good and authentic. Bundār narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us from Burayd, and he mentioned something similar.

machine translationLike the hadith of Wakīʿ regarding the supplication, but he did not mention the qunūt or the witr. Shuʿbah is a better memorizer than a number of people like Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq, and Abū Isḥāq is not known to have heard this report from Burayd or to have concealed a defect in transmitting it from him (dallasahu), unless it is as some of our scholars claim, that everything Yūnus narrated from those from whom his father Abū Isḥāq narrated is among what Yūnus heard along with his father from those he narrated from. Had the report been established from the Prophet ﷺ that he commanded the qunūt in the witr or performed the qunūt in the witr, it would not be permissible in my view to go against the report of the Prophet ﷺ, but I do not know it to be established.
