Translation
✧ I said to al-Hasan b. 'Ali: 'What was I like on the day the Prophet ﷺ died, and what do I remember from him?' He said: 'I remember that a man came to him one day and asked him about something, and he said: "Leave what causes you doubt for what does not cause you doubt, for evil causes doubt, and good brings tranquility." And I remember from him that one day I passed in front of him by a trough of dates from the sadaqah, and I took a date and threw it into my mouth. He grabbed me by the back of my neck, then put his hand into my mouth and pulled it out while I was swallowing it, then threw it back into the trough. His companions said: "If only you had left the boy to eat it." He said: "Sadaqah is not lawful for the family of Muhammad ﷺ." He said: And he taught me words to supplicate with at the end of the qunut: "O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, and grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, and take me as an ally among those You have taken as allies, and bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. Indeed, You decree and none decrees against You, and none is humiliated whom You befriend. Blessed and Exalted are You, our Lord."'
