In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

    in سنن النسائي, p. 995
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationIsmāʿīl b. Jaʿfar narrated it in this way, and it is sound. A group of Mālik's students narrated it from Mālik, curtailing it.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 995
  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationWhat is preserved, established and sound in this hadith is that it is equal to a third of the Qur'an.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 995
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationMālik b. Anas narrates it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah, and there is disagreement about it from him. Al-Qaʿnabī, Maʿn, Abū Muṣʿab and the other transmitters of the Muwaṭṭaʾ narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd. Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, Abū Ṣafwān al-Umawī ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Marwān, and ʿAbbād b. Ṣuhayb differed from them, and narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd, from his brother Qatādah b. al-Nuʿmān, from the Prophet ﷺ. They also differed regarding Mālik about the name of Ibn Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah; the correct statement is that of Abū Maʿmar al-Quṭaʿī from Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, and it is the right one.
