✧ The duha prayer

قَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، أَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ؓ:

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُصَلِّي الضُّحَى ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ قَاعِدَةً، فَقِيلَ لَهَا: إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ ؓ تُصَلِّيهَا أَرْبَعًا !، فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ ؓ امْرَأَةٌ شَابَّةٌ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: صَلَاةُ الْقَاعِدِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْقَائِمِ

Translation

✧ She used to pray the Duha prayer eight rak‘ahs while seated. It was said to her: “Aishah ؓ prays it four!” She said: “Aishah ؓ is a young woman, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The prayer of one seated is half of the prayer of one standing.’”
