✧ When the Day of the Camel came and they lined up, 'Ali ؓ called al-Zubayr ؓ, and he came to him. He said: I adjure you by Allah the Exalted, do you not remember that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You will indeed fight him while you are an oppressor to him'? He ؓ said: O Allah, yes; I did not remember it before this standing of mine. So he turned back. When his companion saw him, he followed him—meaning Talhah ؓ—and Marwan shot him with an arrow, and it pierced his thigh to the iron of the saddle.

machine translationLawīn Muḥammad b. Sulaymān narrated it from Muḥammad b. Sulaymān, a shaykh of his, from Ismāʿīl, from Qays, from al-Zubayr. But this is not from the ḥadīth of Qays. Rather, Ismāʿīl narrated it from ʿAbd al-Salām, a man from Ḥayyah. So said Yaʿlā from Ismāʿīl, and he is ʿAbd al-Salām b. ʿAbdillāh b. Jābir al-Aḥmasī, from al-Zubayr. And this ʿAbd al-Salām did not meet al-Zubayr, so it is disconnected (mursal).
