✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left his wives behind on the day of Uhud in Madinah, he left them in a fortress, among them Safiyyah bint Abd al-Muttalib ؓ, and he left Hassan b. Thabit ؓ with them. A man from the polytheists approached to enter upon them. Safiyyah ؓ said to Hassan b. Thabit ؓ, "Deal with the man." But Hassan ؓ was cowardly and refused. So Safiyyah ؓ took up a sword and struck the polytheist with it until she killed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of that, and he allotted a share of the spoils to Safiyyah ؓ just as he allotted to the men.
