✧ Warning against evil deeds

وَقَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ: حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ الْقَطَّانُ، ثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

« لِكُلِّ إِنْسَانٍ ثَلَاثَةُ أَخِلَّاءَ: فَأَمَّا خَلِيلٌ فَيَقُولُ: مَا أَنْفَقْتَ فَلَكَ وَمَا أَمْسَكْتَ فَلَيْسَ لَكَ، فَذَلِكَ مَالُهُ، وَأَمَّا خَلِيلٌ فَيَقُولُ: أَنَا مَعَكَ فَإِذَا أَتَيْتَ بَابَ الْمَلِكِ تَرَكْتُكَ وَرَجَعْتُ فَذَلِكَ أَهْلُهُ وَحَشَمُهُ، وَأَمَّا خَلِيلٌ فَيَقُولُ: أَنَا مَعَكَ حَيْثُ دَخَلْتَ وَحَيْثُ خَرَجْتَ، فَذَلِكَ عَمَلُهُ فَيَقُولُ: إِنْ كُنْتَ لَأَهْوَنَ الثَّلَاثَةِ عَلَيَّ

Translation

✧ «Every person has three friends. As for one friend, he says: “What you spend is yours, and what you hold back is not yours”—that is his wealth. As for another friend, he says: “I am with you, but when you reach the king’s door, I will leave you and return”—that is his family and servants. As for another friend, he says: “I am with you wherever you enter and wherever you leave”—that is his deeds. Then he will say: “You were the least of the three in my esteem”»
