✧ There was a man called Yazid b. Umayra al-Saksaki, and he was a student of Mu'adh b. Jabal. He mentioned the hadith. He said: Mu'adh ؓ passed away and Yazid joined al-Kufa. He came to the gathering of Abdullah b. Mas'ud ؓ but he was not there. They began discussing faith. Some of them said, 'If I testify that I am a believer, I would testify that I am in Paradise.' Yazid said, 'I testify that I am a believer, but I do not testify that I am in Paradise.' Then Ibn Mas'ud ؓ came and was informed of that. Ibn Mas'ud ؓ said to Yazid, 'Is that so?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'And why is that?' Yazid said, 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, Allah Most High says: "Indeed, those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians, and the Magians, and those who associate others with Allah..." Which of these are you, O Abu Abd al-Rahman?' Ibn Mas'ud said, 'From those who believe.' Yazid said, 'Yes, truly.' Then Ibn Mas'ud said to Yazid, 'By Allah, were you a student of Mu'adh b. Jabal ؓ?' He said, 'Yes.' Ibn Mas'ud ؓ said, 'Mu'adh was a nation, devoutly obedient, upright, and he was not of the polytheists.' His companions said, 'Indeed, Ibrahim was a nation, devoutly obedient to Allah.' Ibn Mas'ud ؓ said, 'Mu'adh ؓ was a nation, devoutly obedient to Allah, upright.'
