✧ Prohibition of Claiming Affiliation to Other than One's Patrons, Claiming Descent from Other than One's Fathers, and Insulting One's Parents

حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ الْأَبَّارُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ، قَالَ:
كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَوْلَيَانِ: حَبَشِيٌّ وَنَبَطِيٌّ، فَاسْتَبَّا، وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَسْمَعُ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ: يَا حَبَشِيُّ، وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ: يَا نَبَطِيُّ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: « لَا تَقُولُوا هَذَا، إِنَّمَا أَنْتُمَا رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ had two freed slaves: an Abyssinian and a Nabataean. They insulted each other while the Prophet ﷺ was listening. One said to his companion: O Abyssinian, and the other said: O Nabataean. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not say this; you are but two men from among the companions of Muhammad ﷺ.'
