✧ Prohibition of claims of ignorance, boasting, and taunting others with their forefathers

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ الْأَبَّارُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَوْلَيَانِ: حَبَشِيٌّ، وَنَبَطِيٌّ، فَاسْتَبَّا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَسْمَعُ. فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ: يَا نَبَطِيُّ، وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ: يَا حَبَشِيُّ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَا تَقُولَا هَذَا، إِنَّمَا أَنْتُمَا رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ had two freed slaves: an Abyssinian and a Nabatean. They insulted each other while the Prophet ﷺ was listening. One of them said to his companion: 'O Nabatean,' and the other said: 'O Abyssinian.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not say this; you are only two men from the companions of Muhammad ﷺ.'
