Show the chain

✧ Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ sent him on an expedition, then said to a man: 'Catch up with him and do not startle him from behind, and say to him: The Prophet ﷺ commands you to wait for him, and say to him: Do not fight a people until you have invited them.'

machine translationIt is mursal, and ʿUmar b. Dharr transmits it, and there is disagreement concerning him. Wakīʿ narrated it from ʿUmar b. Dharr, from Yaḥyā b. Isḥāq, from ʿAlī. Ibn al-Mubārak narrated it from ʿUmar b. Dharr, from Yaḥyā b. Isḥāq that the Prophet ﷺ sent ʿAlī. And it is reported from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from ʿUmar b. Dharr, from Isḥāq b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Ṭalḥah, from Anas; Ghiyāth b. Jaʿfar said this from Ibn ʿUyaynah, but it is not sound (ṣaḥīḥ), and the correct one is the version of Ibn al-Mubārak.
