حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ قَالَ:
لَمَّا غَزَا سَلْمَانُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ فَارِسَ قَالَ: كُفُّوا حَتَّى أَدْعُوهُمْ كَمَا كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُوهُمْ، فَأَتَاهُمْ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ وَقَدْ تَدْرُونَ مَنْزِلِي مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ، وَإِنَّا نَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَإِنْ أَسْلَمْتُمْ فَلَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا لَنَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ مِثْلُ الَّذِي عَلَيْنَا، وَإِنْ أَبَيْتُمْ فَأَعْطُوا الْجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَدٍ وَأَنْتُمْ صَاغِرُونَ، وَإِنْ أَبَيْتُمْ قَاتَلْنَاكُمْ. فَأَبَوْا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ: انْهَدُوا إِلَيْهِمْ

When Salmān fought the polytheists of the people of Persia, he said: "Hold back until I call them as I used to hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ call them." So he came to them and said: "I am a man from among you, and you know my standing with these people. We call you to Islam. If you accept Islam, you will have the same as we have and you will owe the same as we owe. If you refuse, then pay the jizyah out of hand while you are humbled. And if you refuse, we will fight you." But they refused him, so he said to the people: "Advance upon them."
