✧ Al-Aswad b. Yazid used to borrow from a client of al-Nakha', a merchant, and when his stipend came he would pay him back. When his stipend came he said to him: 'If you wish, postpone it for us, for we have obligations in this stipend.' The merchant said: 'I will not do that.' So al-Aswad paid him five hundred dirhams, until when the merchant took them he said to him: 'Take it; here you are.' Al-Aswad said: 'I asked you this and you refused?' The merchant said to him: 'I heard you narrate to us from 'Abd Allah b. Mas'ud ؓ that the Prophet ﷺ used to say: Whoever lends twice, he will have the like of the reward of one of them as if he had given it in charity.'
