   قَدِمْنَا وَفْدَ ثَقِيفَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَنَزَلَ الْأَحْلَافِيُّونَ عَلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ وَأَنْزَلَ الْمَالِكِيِّينَ قُبَّتَهُ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِينَا فَيُحَدِّثُنَا بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ حَتَّى يُرَاوِحَ بَيْنَ قَدَمَيْهِ مِنْ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ، فَكَانَ أَكْثَرُ مَا يُحَدِّثُنَا اشْتِكَاءَ قُرَيْشٍ؛ يَقُولُ: " كُنَّا بِمَكَّةَ مُسْتَذَلِّينَ مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ انْتَصَفْنَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فَكَانَتْ سِجَالُ الْحَرْبِ عَلَيْنَا وَلَنَا "، فَاحْتَبَسَ عَنَّا لَيْلَةً عَنِ الْوَقْتِ الَّذِي كَانَ يَأْتِينَا فِيهِ ثُمَّ أَتَانَا، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، احْتَبَسْتَ عَنَّا اللَّيْلَةَ عَنِ الْوَقْتِ الَّذِي كُنْتَ تَأْتِينَا فِيهِ ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّهُ طَرَأَ عَلَيَّ حِزْبٌ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ لَا أَخْرُجَ حَتَّى أَقْرَأَهُ - أَوْ قَالَ: أَقْضِيَهُ "، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا سَأَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَحْزَابِ الْقُرْآنِ كَيْفَ تُحَزِّبُونَهُ ؟ فَقَالُوا: ثَلَاثٌ، وَخَمْسٌ، وَسَبْعٌ، وَتِسْعٌ، وَإِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ، وَثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ، وَحِزْبُ الْمُفَصَّلِ

   ✧ We came as the delegation of Thaqif to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Ahlafis stayed with al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah, and he lodged the Malikis in his tent. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to come to us and talk to us after the late evening prayer until he would shift from one foot to the other from the length of standing. Most of what he talked to us about was the complaint against Quraysh. He would say: “We were in Makkah oppressed and weak. When we came to Madinah, we took our due from the people, and the turns of war were against us and for us.” One night he was late in coming to us at the time he used to come, then he came to us. We said: “O Messenger of Allah, you were late tonight at the time you used to come to us.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A portion of the Qur'an came to me, and I wanted not to go out until I had recited it” – or he said: “completed it.” When morning came, we asked the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the portions of the Qur'an: how do you divide it into portions? They said: “Three, five, seven, nine, eleven, thirteen, and the portion of the Mufassal.”

   أَشَارَ إِلَيَّ جَدِّي أَنْ أُنَاوِلَهُ نَعْلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي، فَنَاوَلْتُهُ فَلَبِسَهَا وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ

   ✧ My grandfather gestured to me to hand him his sandals while he was praying. I handed them to him, and he put them on while praying. When he finished praying, he said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in his sandals.”

   كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي قُبَّةٍ وَمَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا نَائِمٌ غَيْرِي، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَسَارَّهُ فَقَالَ: " اذْهَبْ فَاقْتُلْهُ "، ثُمَّ دَعَاهُ فَقَالَ: " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ "، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَإِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ، فَإِذَا شَهِدُوهَا فَقَدْ مَنَعُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ - أَوْ قَالَ: قَدْ مُنِعُوا - إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا

   ✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ in a tent, and there was no one among the people awake except me. A man came and whispered to him, and he said: “Go and kill him.” Then he called him back and said: “Does he not bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “I have been commanded to fight people until they bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. If they bear witness to it, they have protected their blood and property from me” – or he said: “they are protected” – “except by its right.”

   " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا، قُلْتُ: مَا " اسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا " ؟ قَالَ: صَبَّ عَلَى يَدِهِ ثَلَاثًا

   ✧ I saw the Prophet ﷺ perform istawkafa three times.” I said: “What is ‘istawkafa three times’?” He said: “He poured water on his hand three times.”

   " قَدِمْنَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي وَفْدِ ثَقِيفَ فَأَقَمْنَا عِنْدَهُ نِصْفَ شَهْرٍ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَنْفَتِلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ

   ✧ We came to the Prophet ﷺ in the delegation of Thaqif and stayed with him for half a month. I saw him turn to his right and to his left (after prayer).

   أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ " تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ

   ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution and wiped over his sandals.

   " مَنْ غَسَّلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاغْتَسَلَ وَبَكَّرَ وَابْتَكَرَ وَمَشَى وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ صِيَامُ سَنَةٍ وَقِيَامُهَا

   ✧ Whoever washes on Friday, performs the major ablution, comes early, walks and does not ride, for every step he has the reward of fasting and praying for a year.
