ثنا كُلَيْبُ بْنُ وَائِلٍ حَدَّثَتْنِي رَبِيبَةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَحْسَبُهَا زَيْنَبَ قَالَتْ «نَهَى نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ» قَالَ وَأَرَى فِيهِ «النَّقِيرَ»
✧ Kulayb b. Wa’il narrated to us: The stepdaughter of the Prophet ﷺ narrated to me—I think she was Zaynab—she said: “The Prophet of Allah ﷺ forbade gourds and hantam jars.” He said: And I think it included “naqir.”

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «تَصَدَّقْنَ وَلَوْ مِنْ حُلِيِّكُنَّ» فَقَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِّي أَنْ أَجْعَلَ صَدَقَتِي فِيكَ وَفِي بَنِي أَخِي أَيْتَامٍ؟ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ خَفِيفُ ذَاتِ الْيَدِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ سَلِي عَنْ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ لَهَا زَيْنَبُ جَاءَتْ لِتَسْأَلَ عَمَّا جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا بِلَالٌ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ سَلْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا تُخْبِرْهُ مَنْ نَحْنُ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِّي أَنْ أَجْعَلَ صَدَقَتِي فِي زَوْجِي وَبَنِي أَخِي أَيْتَامٍ؟ فَأَتَى بِلَالٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ فَقَالَ أَيُّ الزَّيَانِبِ قَالَ امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَامْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَخْبِرْهَا أَنَّ لَهَا أَجْرَانِ أَجْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ وَأَجْرُ الْقَرَابَةِ»
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Give charity, even from your jewelry.” Zaynab said to ‘Abd Allah: Would it suffice for me to make my charity for you and for the orphaned sons of my brother? ‘Abd Allah was light of hand. ‘Abd Allah said: Ask the Prophet ﷺ about that. Zaynab said: So I went to the Prophet ﷺ, and there was a woman from the Ansar. Zaynab said to her: She has come to ask about the same thing I came to ask about. Bilal came out to us, and we said to him: Ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and do not tell him who we are: Would it suffice for me to make my charity for my husband and the orphaned sons of my brother? Bilal went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said: Which of the Zaynabs? He said: The wife of ‘Abd Allah b. Mas‘ud and a woman from the Ansar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Tell her that she has two rewards: the reward of charity and the reward of kinship.”

خَرَجَ بِلَالٌ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ سَلْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنَّا مِنَ النَّفَقَةِ النَّفَقَةُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِنَا وَمَا حَوَتْ حُجُورُنَا فَدَخَلَ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَجْرَانِ أَجْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ وَأَجْرُ الْقَرَابَةِ»
✧ Bilal came out, and we said to him: Ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Would it suffice for us, of spending, to spend on our husbands and those our laps have sheltered? He entered and asked him, and the Prophet ﷺ said: “Two rewards: the reward of charity and the reward of kinship.”

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, is there any reward for me if I give charity to the children of Abdullah from other than me? He said: "You will have two portions of the reward."

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us while we were in the mosque and said: "O assembly of women, give charity," and he mentioned the hadith.

يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلِيَّ وَأَنَا فِي نِسْوَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ «تَصَدَّقْنَ وَلَوْ مِنْ حُلِيِّكُنَّ» فَسَلْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِنْ كَانَ إِنْفاقِي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلى بَنِي أَخِي يُجْزِئُ عَنِّي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ وَإِلَّا أَنْفَقْتُهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ أَسْأَلُهُ فَسَلِيهِ أَنْتِ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى بَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَاجَتُهَا حَاجَتِي فَأَتَى عَلَيْنَا بِلَالٌ فَقُلْنَا يَا بِلَالُ أَقْرِئْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَّا السَّلَامَ وَرَحْمَةَ اللهِ وَأَخْبِرْهُ أَنَّ لَنَا أَزْوَاجَنَا وَبَنِي إِخْوَانِنَا إِنْ كَانَ إِنْفاقُنا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِنَا وَبَنِي إِخْوَانِنَا يُجْزِئُ عَنَّا وَإِلَّا أَنْفَقْنا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ؟ فَدَخَلَ بِلَالٌ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ أَقْرِئْهُما السَّلَامَ وَرَحْمَةَ اللهِ وأَنْبِئْهُما أَنَّ إِنْفاقَهُما عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمَا وَبَنِي أَخَوَاتِهِما ضِعْفَيْنِ ضِعْفُ الصِّلَةِ وَضِعْفُ الصَّدَقَةِ
✧ O Abu Abdur-Rahman, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to me while I was among a group of women from the Ansar and said: "Give charity, even if from your jewelry." So ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether my spending on you and on my brother's children will suffice for me as charity, otherwise I will spend it in the path of Allah. He said: I feel shy to ask him, so you ask him. So I went to the door of the Prophet ﷺ and there was a woman from the Ansar whose need was my need. Bilal came to us, and we said: O Bilal, convey our greetings and the mercy of Allah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and tell him that we have our husbands and the children of our brothers; if our spending on our husbands and the children of our brothers will suffice for us, otherwise we will spend in the path of Allah. Bilal entered and told him, and he said: Convey to them greeting and the mercy of Allah, and inform them that their spending on their husbands and the children of their sisters is doubled - a double for maintaining ties and a double for charity.

✧ "The Prophet ﷺ gave her fifty wasqs of dates at Khaybar and twenty wasqs of barley in Madinah."

✧ Zaynab bint Qays bin Makhrama wrote to me, saying, "When she arrived, she left me 10,000 and she was among those who prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ facing both Qiblas."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي مَاتَ وَتَرَكَ جَارِيَةً فَوَلَدَتْ غُلَامًا وَإِنَّا كُنَّا نَتَّهِمُها فَقَالَ «ائْتُونِي بِهِ» فَلَمَّا أَتَوْهُ بِهِ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ وَقَالَ «إِنَّ الْمِيرَاثَ لَهُ وَأَمَّا أَنْتِ فَاحْتَجِبِي مِنْهُ»
✧ She said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, my father died and left a slave girl, and she gave birth to a boy, and we suspected her. He said: "Bring him to me." When they brought him to him, he looked at him and said: "The inheritance is his. As for you, veil yourself from him."

عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ نُبَيْطِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ امْرَأَةِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَتْ أَوْصَى أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بأُمِّي وَخَالَتِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ حُلِيٌّ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ولؤلؤٍ يُقَالُ الرِّعاثُ قَالَتْ «فَحَلَّاهُنَّ مِنَ الرِّعاثِ»
✧ From Zainab bt. Nubayt b. Jabir, wife of Anas b. Malik, she said: Abu Umamah entrusted my mother and my maternal aunt to the Prophet ﷺ, and a gold and pearl ornament called ri'ath was brought to him. She said: "He adorned them with the ri'ath."

عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هُوَ صَغِيرٌ «فَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَدَعَا لَهُ»
✧ From his grandfather Abdullah b. Hisham, who had met the Prophet ﷺ; his mother Zainab bt. Humaid took him to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, he is young. "So he wiped his head and supplicated for him."

أَنَّ سَهْلَةَ بِنْتَ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ سَالِمًا مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مَعَنَا فِي بَيْتِنَا وَقَدْ بَلَغَ مَا يَبْلُغُ الرِّجَالُ وَقَدْ عَلِمَ مَا يَعْلَمُ الرِّجَالُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَرْضِعِيهِ تَحْرُمِي عَلَيْهِ»
✧ Sahlah bt. Suhayl b. Amr came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, lives with us in our house, and he has reached what men reach and knows what men know. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Breastfeed him, and you will become unlawful to him."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةَ حُذَيْفَةَ جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ سَالِمًا مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ يَدْخُلُ عَلِيَّ وَأَنَا وَاضِعَةٌ ثَوْبِي فَأَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي فَقَالَ «أَرْضِعِيهِ يَذْهَبُ عَنْكِ الَّذِي تَجِدِينَ»
✧ The wife of Hudhayfah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, enters upon me while I am not wearing my outer garment, and I feel something in myself. He said: "Breastfeed him, and what you feel will go away from you."

✧ "The Prophet ﷺ commanded Sahlah bt. Suhayl to breastfeed Salim to remove what was in the heart of Abu Hudhayfah."

جَاءَتْ سَهْلَةُ بِنْتُ سُهَيْلٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مِنْ أَمَرِ سَالِمٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَرْضِعِيهِ» فَقَالَتْ إِنَّهُ كَبِيرٌ فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ «أَلَيْسَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ رَجُلٌ؟» قَالَتْ فَفَعَلَتْ فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ بِمَا أَكْرَمَكَ بِهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ شَيْئًا
✧ Sahlah bt. Suhayl came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I see something in the face of Abu Hudhayfah regarding Salim. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Breastfeed him." She said: He is an adult. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: "Do I not know that he is a man?" She said: So she did so, then came to him and said: By the One who honored you as He honored you, I no longer see anything in the face of Abu Hudhayfah.
