   يَا سَعْدُ، عَلَيْكَ السَّمْعَ وَالطَّاعَةَ فِي عُسْرِكَ وَيُسْرِكَ وَمَنْشَطِكَ وَمَكْرَهِكَ وَأَثَرَةً عَلَيْكَ، وَأَنْ لَا تُنَازِعَ الْأَمْرَ أَهْلَهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَدْعُوكَ إِلَى خِلَافِ مَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ، فَإِنْ دَعَوْكَ إِلَى خِلَافِ مَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ فَاتَّبِعْ كِتَابَ اللهِ

   ✧ O Sa'd, upon you is listening and obedience in your hardship and your ease, your willingness and your reluctance, and preference over you [i.e., when others are given preference over you], and that you do not dispute authority with its rightful people unless they call you to contravene what is in the Book of Allah. If they call you to contravene what is in the Book of Allah, then follow the Book of Allah.

   " الْأَنْصَارُ مِحْنَةٌ لَا يُحِبُّهُمْ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يُبْغِضُهُمْ إِلَّا مُنَافِقٌ

   ✧ The Ansar are a touchstone; none loves them but a believer, and none hates them but a hypocrite.

   أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِي: قُمْ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ، وَانْظُرْ لَا تَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِبَكْرٍ تَحْمِلُهُ عَلَى رَقَبَتِكَ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ " قَالَ: اقْبَلْ عَنِّي صَدَقَتَكَ فَقَبِلَهَا عَنْهُ

   ✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "Undertake the collection of the zakat of Banu so-and-so, and beware lest you come on the Day of Resurrection with a young camel carrying it on your neck while it bellows." He (Sa'd) said: "Accept my zakat from me," and he accepted it from him.

   سَيِّدُ الْأَيَّامِ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ فِيهِ خَمْسُ خِلَالٍ: فِيهِ خُلِقَ آدَمُ، وَفِيهِ أُهْبِطَ، وَفِيهِ تَوَفَّى اللهُ آدَمَ، وَفِيهِ سَاعَةٌ لَا يَسْأَلُ الْعَبْدُ رَبَّهُ شَيْئًا فِيهَا إِلَّا آتَاهُ، مَا لَمْ يَسْأَلْ مَأْثَمًا أَوْ قَطِيعَةَ رَحِمٍ، وَفِيهِ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ، وَمَا مِنْ مَلَكٍ مُقَرَّبٍ وَلَا سَمَاءٍ، وَلَا أَرْضٍ، وَلَا جِبَالٍ، وَلَا رِيَاحٍ، وَلَا بَحْرٍ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُشْفِقُ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ أَنْ تَقُومَ فِيهِ السَّاعَةُ

   ✧ The chief of days is Friday. In it there are five merits: in it Adam was created; in it he was sent down; in it Allah caused Adam to die; in it there is an hour in which no servant asks his Lord for anything therein except that He gives it to him, as long as he does not ask for sin or severing ties of kinship; and in it the Hour will be established. There is no angel brought near, nor sky, nor earth, nor mountain, nor wind, nor sea but that it is apprehensive of Friday, lest the Hour be established on it.

   " مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ نَسِيَهُ إِلَّا لَقِيَ اللهَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَجْزَمَ، وَمَا مِنْ عَامِلِ عَشَرَةٍ إِلَّا جِيءَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَغْلُولًا لَا يُطْلِقُهُ إِلَّا الْعَمَلُ

   ✧ There is no man who learns the Quran then forgets it except that he meets Allah on the Day of Resurrection as one with a severed limb, and there is no worker of ten [i.e., one who commits ten sins] except that he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in chains, nothing will release him except his deeds.
