✧ From a man of Baliyy who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my father. My father spoke to him privately, apart from me. I said to my father: "What did he say to you?" He said: "If you want to do something, then you must be deliberate until Allah shows you a way out of it, or until Allah makes a way out for you."

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Whoever gives a gift or guides someone down an alley"—or he said, "a path"—"will have the reward of freeing a slave."
✧ He said after that—and I do not know but that he attributed it to the Prophet ﷺ—he said: "Your emptying your bucket into your brother's bucket is charity. Your commanding good and forbidding evil are charity. Your smiling in your brother's face is charity. Your removing stones, thorns, and bones from people's path is charity for you. Your guiding a man in a land where people go astray is charity."

✧ Ibn ʿAbbās related to me, saying: While the Prophet ﷺ was sitting in the courtyard of his house in Makkah, ʿUthmān b. Maẓʿūn passed by him and smiled at the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Won't you sit down?" He said: "Of course." So the Prophet ﷺ sat facing him. While he was talking to him, the Prophet ﷺ suddenly fixed his gaze on the sky and said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me just now while you were sitting." He said: "What did he say to you?" He said: "{Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives, and He forbids immorality, wrongdoing, and oppression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.}" ʿUthmān said: "That was when faith settled in my heart and I came to love Muḥammad."

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Whoever supports two girls until they reach maturity, he and I will enter Paradise like these two"—and Muḥammad pointed with his index and middle fingers.

✧ Ibn ʿAbbas said: "I do not see anyone acting upon this verse: 'O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female' up to 'Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.' A man says to another man, 'I am nobler than you,' but no one is nobler than another except through taqwa of Allah."
✧ Ibn ʿAbbas said: "What do you count as nobility? Allah has clarified nobility: 'The most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.' What do you count as lineage? The best of you in lineage is the best of you in character."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I believe in that, I and Abu Bakr and ʿUmar.'"

'Ali said, "The Prophet ﷺ was in a funeral procession an he picked up something and began to scratch the ground with it. He said, 'There is none of you who does not have his seat written either in the Fire or in the Garden.' They said, 'Messenger of Allah, then should we not rely on what is written for us and abandon action?' 'Act.' he said. 'Every thing is easy if you were created for it.' He added, 'As for someone who is one of the people of happiness, it is easy for him to perform the actions of happiness. As for someone who is one of the people of wretchedness, it is easy for him to perform the actions of wretchedness.' Then he recited, 'As for him who gives out and has taqwa and confirms the Good' (92:5-10)

✧ From his mother, she said: "I said to Abu Qatadah, 'Why do you not narrate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as the people narrate from him?'
The wind overtook the people on the road to Mecca while Umar was performing Hajj, and it became severe. Umar said to those around him, “What is the wind?” but they brought back no answer. So I urged my riding animal on until I caught up with him, and I said, “It has reached me that you asked about the wind, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The wind is from the relief of Allah. It comes with mercy and it comes with punishment, so do not curse it; ask Allah for its good, and seek refuge from its evil."”
