The wind overtook the people on the road to Mecca while Umar was performing Hajj, and it became severe. Umar said to those around him, “What is the wind?” but they brought back no answer. So I urged my riding animal on until I caught up with him, and I said, “It has reached me that you asked about the wind, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The wind is from the relief of Allah. It comes with mercy and it comes with punishment, so do not curse it; ask Allah for its good, and seek refuge from its evil."”
