✧ When the Prophet ﷺ was taken, some of his companions became disturbed, and I was among those who became disturbed. He said: Then Umar passed by me and greeted me, but I did not return his greeting. He complained about me to Abu Bakr. He said: Then he came to us and said to me: 'Your brother greeted you, but you did not return his greeting.' He said: I said: 'I did not notice his greeting, and I was preoccupied with that.' He said: 'And why?' I said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ has been taken, and I did not ask him about the salvation of this matter.' He said: 'I did ask him.' He said: Then I stood up to him and embraced him. He said: I said: 'May my father and mother be your ransom, you are more entitled to that.' He said: 'I did ask him, and he said: Whoever accepts the word that I offered to my uncle—it is salvation for him.'
