Show the chain

✧ I asked my father Sa'd, and I said: O my father, "Those who are heedless of their prayer" — is it the heedlessness of one of us in his prayer, the talking of his self? Sa'd said: Do not all of us do that? But the one heedless of his prayer is the one who prays it at other than its time. That is the one heedless of it. Mus'ab said on another occasion: "His abandoning the prayer in its times."

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿIkrimah b. Ibrāhīm narrated it with a connected chain (musnad) from ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr and raised it (marfūʿ) to the Prophet ﷺ, while others narrate it from ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr as a statement stopping at Saʿd (mawqūf), and that is the correct one. Likewise Ṭalḥah b. Muṣarrif, Simāk b. Ḥarb and ʿĀṣim b. Abī al-Najūd narrated it from Muṣʿab b. Saʿd from his father as mawqūf, and that is the correct one.

  • Ibn Rajab

machine translationIt is narrated from Saʿd as raised (marfūʿ), but the mawqūf is more sound.
