✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I broke the fast on one day of Ramadan. He said: Without excuse or travel? He said: Yes. He said: What an evil thing you have done! He said: Indeed, so what do you command me? He said: Free a slave. He said: By the One who sent you with truth, I have never owned a slave. He said: Then fast two consecutive months. He said: I cannot do that. He said: Then feed sixty poor persons. He said: By the One who sent you with truth, I cannot even satisfy my own family. He said: Then the Prophet ﷺ was brought a large basket containing dates, and he said: Give this in charity to sixty poor persons. He said: To whom shall I give it? He said: To the poorest person you know. He said: By the One who sent you with truth, there is no household between its two sides more needy than us. He said: Then give it in charity to your own dependents.
