✧ Al-Kifl of the Children of Israel did not abstain from any sin he committed. A woman came to him, and he gave her sixty dinars on condition that he have intercourse with her. When he sat from her as a man sits, she trembled and wept. He said: What makes you weep? Did I compel you? She said: No, but this is a deed I have never done, and only need drove me to it. He said: You would do this and you have never done it? He said: Then he got down and said: Go, and the dinars are yours. Then he said: By Allah, al-Kifl will never disobey Allah again. He said: He died that night, and in the morning it was written on his door: Allah has forgiven al-Kifl.

machine translationAbū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh said, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbdillāh, from Saʿīd b. Jubayr, from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ. But he erred in saying "Saʿīd b. Jubayr"; the correct reading is "from Saʿīd, the freed slave of Ṭalḥah".
