✧ While I was sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ, a man came to him and said: O Messenger of God, I am destroyed. He said: "Woe to you, what is the matter with you?" He said: I had intercourse with my wife in Ramadan. He said: "Free a slave." He said: I cannot find one. He said: "Fast two consecutive months." He said: I am not able. He said: "Feed sixty poor persons." He said: I cannot find it. He said: Then the Messenger of God ﷺ was brought a large basket (araq) containing dates, and he said: "Take it and give it in charity." He said: I find no one more entitled to it than my family, O Messenger of God. Between the two ropes of Madinah, there is no one more in need of it than me. The Messenger of God ﷺ laughed until his canine teeth appeared, and said: "Take it and seek forgiveness from God."
