حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ، عَنِ الْمَعْرُورِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِي زَوْجِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَبِأَبِي أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَبِأَخِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَقَدْ سَأَلْتِ اللهَ عَنْ آجَالٍ مَضْرُوبَةٍ، وَأَرْزَاقٍ مَقْسُومَةٍ، وَآثَارٍ مَبْلُوغَةٍ، لَا يُعَجَّلُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ قَبْلَ حِلِّهِ، فَلَوْ سَأَلْتِ اللهَ أَنْ يُعِيذَكِ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ، أَوْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ كَانَ خَيْرًا أَوْ كَانَ أَفْضَلَ، قَالَ: فَذُكِرَتِ الْقِرَدَةُ - قَالَ: وَأُرَاهُ: الْخَنَازِيرُ - أَكَانَ مِمَّا مُسِخَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يُهْلِكْ قَوْمًا فَيَتْرُكَ لَهُمْ نَسْلًا وَلَا عَاقِبًا، وَقَدْ كَانَتِ الْقِرَدَةُ - وَأُرَاهُ قَالَ: الْخَنَازِيرُ - قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ

✧ Umm Habibah said: 'O God, bless me in my husband, the Messenger of God ﷺ, in my father Abu Sufyan, and in my brother Mu'awiyah.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'You have asked God about fixed terms, allotted provisions, and destined traces—nothing of them is hastened before its time. If you had asked God to protect you from the punishment of the Fire or the punishment of the grave, it would have been better or more virtuous.' He said: Then monkeys were mentioned—he said: I think he said pigs—were they among those transformed among the Children of Israel? He said: 'God has not destroyed a people and left them descendants or posterity. Monkeys—and I think he said pigs—existed before that.'

    يرويه علقمة بن مرثد واختلف عنه فرواه أبو خالد الدالاني يزيد بن عبد الرحمن والثوري ومسعر بن كدام عن علقمة بن مرثد عن المغيرة بن عبد الله اليشكري عن المعرور بن سويد عن عبد الله وخالفهم عبد الرحمن المسعودي ورواه عن علقمة بن مرثد عن المستورد بن الأحنف عن ابن مسعود ووهم فيه والصواب قول أبي خالد الدالاني ومن تابعه

Marthad, from al-Mughīrah b. ʿAbdullāh al-Yashkurī, from al-Maʿrūr b. Suwayd, from ʿAbdullāh. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Masʿūdī differed from them and narrated it from ʿAlqamah b. Marthad, from al-Mustawrid b. al-Aḥnaf, from Ibn Masʿūd, and he was mistaken in it (wahima). The correct version is the statement of Abū Khālid al-Dālānī and those who followed him.

Suwayd, from Ibn Masʿūd, and this is the correct (ṣaḥīḥ) one.
