حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنْ الْمَعْرُورِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ قَالَتْ
قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بْنَةُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ: اللَّهُمَّ أَمْتِعْنِي بِزَوْجِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَبِأَبِي أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَبِأَخِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّكِ سَأَلْتِ اللهَ لِآجَالٍ مَضْرُوبَةٍ، وَأَيَّامٍ مَعْدُودَةٍ، وَأَرْزَاقٍ مَقْسُومَةٍ؛ لَنْ يُعَجَّلَ شَيْءٌ قَبْلَ حِلِّهِ، أَوْ يُؤَخَّرَ شَيْءٌ عَنْ حِلِّهِ، وَلَوْ كُنْتِ سَأَلْتِ اللهَ أَنْ يُعِيذَكِ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ، وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ كَانَ أَخْيَرَ أَوْ أَفْضَلَ. قَالَ: وَذُكِرَ عِنْدَهُ الْقِرَدَةُ - قَالَ مِسْعَرٌ: أُرَاهُ قَالَ: وَالْخَنَازِيرُ - أَنَّهُ مِمَّا مُسِخَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَمْسَخْ شَيْئًا، فَيَدَعَ لَهُ نَسْلًا أَوْ عَاقِبَةً، وَقَدْ كَانَتِ الْقِرَدَةُ أَوِ الْخَنَازِيرُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ.

✧ Umm Habibah bt. Abi Sufyan said: ‘O God, let me enjoy my husband the Messenger of God ﷺ, my father Abu Sufyan, and my brother Muawiyah.’ He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said to her: ‘You have asked God for fixed terms, numbered days, and apportioned provisions. Nothing will be hastened before its due time, nor delayed beyond its due time. Had you asked God to protect you from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave, that would have been better, or more excellent.’ He said: And monkeys were mentioned in his presence — Misar said: I think he said: and pigs — as being among those transformed. The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘God has not transformed anything leaving it offspring or a posterity. Monkeys and pigs existed before that.’

Al-Masʿūdī narrated it from ʿAlqamah, from al-Mustawrid b. Makhramah, from Ibn Masʿūd. Al-Thawrī and Misʿar narrated it from ʿAlqamah, from al-Mughīrah b. ʿAbdillāh al-Yashkurī, from al-Maʿrūr b. Suwayd, from Ibn Masʿūd, and this is the correct (ṣaḥīḥ) one.

Marthad, from al-Mustawrid b. al-Aḥnaf, from Ibn Masʿūd, and he was mistaken in it (wahima). The correct version is the statement of Abū Khālid al-Dālānī and those who followed him.
