وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - ﷺ قَالَ:

الْأَيْدِي ثَلَاثَةٌ: فَيَدُ اللهِ تَعَالَى الْعُلْيَا، وَيَدُ الْمُعْطِي الَّتِي تَلِيهَا، وَيَدُ السَّائِلِ السُّفْلَى إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ، فَاسْتَعِفَّ عَنِ السُّؤَالِ وَعَنِ الْمَسْأَلَةِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ، فَإِنْ أُعْطِيتَ شَيْئًا - أَوْ قَالَ: خَيْرًا - فَلْيُرَ عَلَيْكَ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ، وَارْضَخْ مِنَ الْفَضْلِ، وَلَا تُلَامُ عَلَى الْعَفَافِ.

Translation

✧ Hands are three: the Hand of Allah, Exalted is He, is the highest; the hand of the giver that follows it; and the hand of the beggar is the lowest until the Day of Resurrection. So refrain from asking and from begging as much as you can. If you are given something—or he said: good—let it be shown upon you. Begin with those you support, give what you can from surplus, and you will not be blamed for chastity.
