حَدَّثَنَا كَامِلُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ: إِنَّ نَاسًا يَقْرَأُ أَحَدُهُمُ الْقُرْآنَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، قَالَتْ: أُولَئِكَ قَرَؤُوا، وَلَمْ يَقْرَؤُوا، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُومُ اللَّيْلَةَ التِّمَامَ يَقْرَأُ بِسُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ، وَآلِ عِمْرَانَ، وَالنِّسَاءِ، لَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا اسْتِبْشَارٌ إِلَّا دَعَا

✧ I said to Aisha, Mother of the Believers, “Some people read the entire Quran in a night twice or three times.” She said, “Those have recited but have not truly recited. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand in prayer the entire night reciting Surah al-Baqarah, Al Imran, and al-Nisa. He would not pass by a verse containing good news except that he would supplicate.”
