✧ I stood with the Messenger of God ﷺ one night and wanted to observe his prayer. He used the toothstick, then performed ablution, then stood to pray. I stood with him. He began and opened with Surah al-Baqarah. He did not pass by a verse of mercy but that he paused and asked, nor pass by a verse of punishment but that he paused and sought refuge. Then he bowed and remained bowing for the duration of his standing, saying in his bowing: "Glory be to the One of might, dominion, pride, and greatness." Then he prostrated for the duration of his bowing, saying in his prostration: "Glory be to the One of might, dominion, pride, and greatness." Then he recited Al 'Imran and did the same.
