Musnad Abi Ya'la 4345

Translation

✧ I entered the house of Anas b. Malik and asked him about nabidh. He said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade gourd vessels and vessels smeared with pitch.” I said: “And hantam?” He repeated it to me. We said: “What is hantam?” He said: “The green jar.” Anas b. Malik said: “O servant girl, bring me that green jar.” She brought him a jar, and he poured a cup of nabidh for me in it, and I drank it. Then he said: “I did not see a green jar until the Messenger of God ﷺ passed away, but hantam is green jars that used to come to us from Egypt.” Then the servant girl came to him and said: “The prayer, may God keep you righteous.” He said: “Which prayer?” She said: “The ‘Asr prayer.” I said: “I prayed it before entering upon you.” He said: “Wait, the ‘Asr has not yet come.” Then she reminded him again, and he said to her the like of his first statement. Then she reminded him again and spoke to him, and he said: “I have heard what you said. Bring me water for ablution, for people are praying this prayer before its time.” Then he prayed.
