حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
اشْتَكَى ابْنٌ لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ، فَرَاحَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، وَتُوُفِّيَ الْغُلَامُ، فَهَيَّأَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ أَمْرَ بَيْتِهَا، وَيَسَّرَتْ عَشَاءَهُ، وَقَالَتْ لِأَهْلِهَا: لَا يَذْكُرَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ وَفَاةَ ابْنِهِ. فَرَجَعَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ وَمَعَهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: مَا فَعَلَ الْغُلَامُ ؟ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ: خَيْرَ مَا كَانَ، فَقَدَّمَتْ عَشَاءَهُ فَتَعَشَّى وَأَصْحَابُهُ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجُوا عَنْهُ قَامَتْ إِلَى مَا تَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ الْمَرْأَةُ. فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَتْ: أَلَمْ تَرَ يَا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ آلَ فُلَانٍ ! اسْتَعَارُوا عَارِيَّةً فَتَمَتَّعُوا بِهَا، فَلَمَّا طُلِبَتْ إِلَيْهِمْ، شَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ! فَقَالَ: مَا أَنْصَفُوا، قَالَتْ: إِنَّ فُلَانًا - ابْنَهَا - كَانَ عَارِيَّةً مِنَ اللهِ فَقَبَضَهُ، فَاسْتَرْجَعَ، ثُمَّ غَدَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: بَارَكَ اللهُ لَكُمَا فِي لَيْلَتِكُمَا، فَحَمَلَتْ بِعَبْدِ اللهِ. فَلَمَّا وَلَدَتْ لَيْلًا، فَكَرِهَتْ أَنْ تُحَنِّكَهُ حَتَّى حَنَّكَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ. قَالَ: فَغَدَوْتُ بِهِ وَتَمَرَاتُ عَجْوَةٍ، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَهْنَأُ أَبَاعِرَ لَهُ وَيَسِمُهَا، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَلَدَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ اللَّيْلَةَ، فَكَرِهَتْ أَنْ تُحَنِّكَهُ حَتَّى تُحَنِّكَهُ أَنْتَ، قَالَ: مَعَكُمْ شَيْءٌ ؟ قُلْتُ: تَمَرَاتُ عَجْوَةٍ، فَأَخَذَ بَعْضَ ذَلِكَ التَّمْرِ فَمَضَغَهُ، فَجَمَعَ بُزَاقَهُ، فَأَوْجَرَهُ، فَتَلَمَّظَ الصَّبِيُّ، فَقَالَ: حِبُّ الْأَنْصَارِ التَّمْرُ، فَقُلْتُ: سَمِّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: هُوَ عَبْدُ اللهِ

✧ A son of Abu Talhah fell ill, so he went to the mosque, and the boy died. Umm Sulaym set her house in order, prepared his dinner, and said to her family: Let none of you mention to Abu Talhah the death of his son. Abu Talhah returned with some people from his companions among the people of the mosque. He said: What did the boy do? Umm Sulaym said: The best he has ever been. Then she served his dinner, and he and his companions ate. When they left, she attended to what a woman attends to. When it was the last part of the night, she said: Did you not see, O Abu Talhah, the family of so-and-so? They borrowed a loan and enjoyed it, and when it was demanded back from them, it was hard on them! He said: They did not act fairly. She said: Your son was a loan from Allah, and He took him back. So he said: 'Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we return.' Then he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the morning, and he said: May Allah bless you both in your night. She became pregnant with 'Abd Allah. When she gave birth at night, she disliked to perform tahnik on him until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did it. He said: I went with him and some 'ajwah dates to the Prophet ﷺ while he was applying tar to some camels of his and branding them. I said: O Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaym gave birth tonight, and she disliked to perform tahnik on him until you perform tahnik on him. He said: Do you have anything with you? I said: Some 'ajwah dates. He took some of those dates, chewed them, gathered his saliva, and put it in his mouth. The baby smacked his lips. He said: The Ansar love dates. I said: Name him, O Messenger of Allah. He said: He is 'Abd Allah.
