✧ I set out with the Messenger of God ﷺ at night until we came to the Kaaba. He said to me: Sit. So I sat, and the Messenger of God ﷺ climbed onto my shoulders, then I stood up with him. When he saw my weakness beneath him, he said: Sit. So I sat, and the Messenger of God ﷺ came down and sat for me, and said: Climb onto my shoulders. So I climbed onto him, then he stood up with me until it seemed to me that if I wished I could touch the horizon of the sky. I climbed onto the House and came to the idol of Quraysh, which was a statue of a man made of brass or copper. I kept working at it from the right and the left, and in front of it and behind it, until I got a firm hold of it. He said: And the Messenger of God ﷺ was saying: Hit! Hit! while I was working at it. Then he said to me: Throw it down. So I threw it, and it shattered as glass shatters. Then I came down, and we went off running until we hid among the houses, fearing that someone would see us. It was never raised up after that.
