حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: نَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ:
انْطَلَقْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلًا حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا الْكَعْبَةَ فَقَالَ لِيَ: اجْلِسْ ثُمَّ نَهَضْتُ بِهِ فَلَمَّا رَأَى ضَعْفِي تَحْتَهُ قَالَ: اجْلِسْ فَجَلَسْتُ فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِّي وَجَلَسَ لِي وَقَالَ: اصْعَدْ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيَّ فَصَعِدْتُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَهَضَ بِي حَتَّى إِنَّهُ لَيُخَيَّلُ إِلَيَّ أَنِّي لَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أَنَالَ أُفُقَ السَّمَاءِ فَصَعِدْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَأَتَيْتُ صَنَمَ قُرَيْشٍ وَهُوَ تِمْثَالُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ صُفْرٍ أَوْ نُحَاسٍ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُعَالِجُهُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: هِيهَ وَأَنَا أُعَالِجُهُ فَقَالَ: اقْذِفْهُ فَقَذَفْتُهُ فَانْكَسَرَ كَمَا تَنْكَسِرُ الْقَوَارِيرُ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقْنَا نَسْعَى حَتَّى اسْتَتَرْنَا بِالْبُيُوتِ، فَلَمْ يُوضَعْ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدُ
Translation

✧ I set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at night until we came to the Kaaba. He said to me: 'Sit down.' Then I lifted him up, but when he saw my weakness beneath him, he said: 'Sit down.' So I sat down, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got down from me and sat for me, and said: 'Climb onto my shoulders.' So I climbed onto him, and he stood up with me until it seemed to me that if I wished, I could reach the horizon of the sky. Then I climbed onto the House and came to the idol of Quraysh, which was a figure of a man made of brass or copper. I kept working at it from the right and left, from in front of it and behind it, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Go on!' and I kept working at it. Then he said: 'Throw it down.' So I threw it down, and it shattered like glass breaks. Then we set off running until we hid among the houses, and nothing was ever put on it after that.
