✧ I met Umar when he was at the pilgrimage season, and I called to him from behind the tent: 'Indeed I am so-and-so son of so-and-so al-Jarmi, and a nephew of ours has a brother who is a captive among the tribe of so-and-so. We offered him the obligatory share of the Messenger of God ﷺ, but he refused.' He said: Umar raised the side of the tent and said: 'Do you know your companion?' I said: 'Yes, that is he.' He said: 'Take him away so that he may carry out for you two the ruling of the Messenger of God ﷺ.' He said: We used to say that the ruling was four camels.
