حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَخِي قَتَادَةُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَامَ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ مِنَ السَّحَرِ: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ، يُرَدِّدُهَا لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فُلَانًا قَامَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَرَأَ فِي السَّحَرِ: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ اللهُ الصَّمَدُ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ، يُرَدِّدُهَا لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا، كَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَتَقَالُّهَا، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

✧ A man stood up during the time of the Prophet ﷺ reciting at dawn: 'Say: He is Allah, the One,' repeating it and not adding to it. When morning came, a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so stood up last night and recited at dawn: "Say: He is Allah, the One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent," repeating it and not adding to it,' as if the man considered it too little. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is indeed equal to a third of the Quran.'

    يرويه مالك بن أنس عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي صعصعة واختلف عنه فرواه القعنبي ومعن وأبو مصعب وأصحاب الموطأ عن مالك عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي صعصعة عن أبيه عن أبي سعيد وخالفهم إسماعيل بن جعفر وأبو صفوان الأموي عبد الله بن سعيد بن عبد الملك بن مروان وعباد بن صهيب فرووه عن مالك عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله عن أبيه عن أبي سعيد عن أخيه قتادة بن النعمان عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم واختلفوا على مالك في اسم ابن أبي صعصعة والقول قول أبي معمر القطيعي عن إسماعيل بن جعفر وهو الصواب

Al-Qaʿnabī, Maʿn, Abū Muṣʿab and the other transmitters of the Muwaṭṭaʾ narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd. Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, Abū Ṣafwān al-Umawī ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Marwān, and ʿAbbād b. Ṣuhayb differed from them, and narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd, from his brother Qatādah b. al-Nuʿmān, from the Prophet ﷺ. They also differed regarding Mālik about the name of Ibn Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah; the correct statement is that of Abū Maʿmar al-Quṭaʿī from Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, and it is the right one.
