حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ الْهِلَالِيُّ، عَنْ أَسَدِ بْنِ وَدَاعَةَ الْبَجَلِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَفِيفٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَفِيفٍ، قَالَ:

جِئْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَبْتَاعَ لِأَهْلِي مِنْ ثِيَابِهَا وَعِطْرِهَا، فَأَتَيْتُ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، وَكَانَ رَجُلًا تَاجِرًا، فَأَنَا عِنْدَهُ جَالِسٌ حَيْثُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ، وَقَدْ حَلَّقَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي السَّمَاءِ، فَارْتَفَعَتْ، فَذَهَبْتُ إِذْ جَاءَ شَابٌّ فَرَمَى بِبَصَرِهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ، ثُمَّ لَمْ أَلْبَثْ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى جَاءَ غُلَامٌ، فَقَامَ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ، ثُمَّ لَمْ أَلْبَثْ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ، فَقَامَتْ خَلْفَهُمَا، فَرَكَعَ الشَّابُّ، فَرَكَعَ الْغُلَامُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ، فَرَفَعَ الشَّابُّ، فَرَفَعَ الْغُلَامُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا عَبَّاسُ، أَمْرٌ عَظِيمٌ ! فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ: أَمْرٌ عَظِيمٌ، تَدْرِي مَنْ هَذَا الشَّابُّ ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ابْنُ أَخِي، تَدْرِي مَنْ هَذَا الْغُلَامُ ؟ هَذَا عَلِيٌّ ابْنُ أَخِي، تَدْرِي مَنْ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةُ ؟ هَذِهِ خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ زَوْجَتُهُ، إِنَّ ابْنَ أَخِي هَذَا

✧ I came in the pre-Islamic era to Makkah, wanting to buy for my family some of its garments and perfume. I went to al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib, who was a merchant, and I was sitting with him where I could see the Kaaba. The sun had risen high in the sky, and I went away when a young man came, raised his gaze to the sky, then stood facing the qiblah. I did not wait long before a boy came and stood on his right, and in a little while a woman came and stood behind them. The young man bowed, and the boy and the woman bowed; the young man raised, and the boy and the woman raised. I said: "O Abbas, a great matter!" Al-Abbas said: "A great matter. Do you know who this young man is?" I said: "No." He said: "This is Muhammad ibn Abdullah, the son of my brother. Do you know who this boy is? This is Ali, the son of my brother. Do you know who this woman is? This is Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, his wife. This son of my brother"
