✧ Umar b. al-Khattab was riding alongside the Messenger of God ﷺ on one of his journeys, and he asked him about something, but he did not answer him. Then he asked him again, but he did not answer him. Then he asked him again, but he did not answer him. Umar said: I said to myself: 'May your mother lose you, Umar! You asked the Messenger of God ﷺ three times, and every time he did not answer you.' So I spurred my camel and went ahead of the people. No sooner had I done so than I heard a caller crying out, so I went back. I said: 'I feared that something of the Qur'an had been revealed concerning me.' I greeted him, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'A surah was revealed to me tonight that is dearer to me than all that the sun rises upon.' Then he recited: 'Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, that God may forgive you your past and future sins.'
