What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Shawkānī

machine translationIts chain of transmission is weak (ḍaʿīf), but it is supported by the agreement [of the scholars].

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 2283
  • al-Tirmidhi

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 2283
  • Shafiʿī

machine translationThe scholars of hadith (ahl al-ḥadīth) do not authenticate the like of it.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 2283
  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationThe scholars of hadith refrained from affirming this because al-Ḥārith al-Aʿwar was alone in narrating it from ʿAlī, and al-Ḥārith's report is not taken as evidence because the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) criticized him. [The beginning of the sentence is incomplete in the Arabic: "mtināʿ" seems to be "imtināʿ".]

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAnd al-Ḥārith is weak (ḍaʿīf) in it.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 2283
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAlthough al-Ḥārith is weak (ḍaʿīf), the consensus (ijmāʿ) is established in accordance with what was narrated.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 2283
