✧ You recite: 'After any bequest that may have been made, or debt.' And the Messenger of God ﷺ ruled that the debt be paid before the bequest, and that the full siblings inherit to the exclusion of half-siblings through the father only; a man inherits from his brother through his father and mother to the exclusion of his brother through his father only.

  • Shawkānī

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1229
  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationThe scholars of hadith refrained from affirming this because al-Ḥārith al-Aʿwar was alone in narrating it from ʿAlī, and al-Ḥārith's report is not taken as evidence because the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) criticized him. [The beginning of the sentence is incomplete in the Arabic: "mtināʿ" seems to be "imtināʿ".]

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1229
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAnd al-Ḥārith is weak (ḍaʿīf) in it.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1229
  • Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī
