حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، قَالَتْ: سَلْ عَلِيًّا، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُسَافِرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ، وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ

✧ I asked 'A'isha about wiping over the leather socks. She said, "Ask 'Ali, for he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So I asked him, and he said: "For the traveler three days and their nights, and for the resident one day and one night."
